Liverpool reportedly leading the race to sign 23-year-old attacker

Liverpool are leading the race to sign Arsenal man Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as uncertainty grows regarding the 23-year-old’s future, reports the Mirror.

An impressive season from Oxlade-Chamberlain at the Emirates hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Premier League elites.

The Reds are said to be leading the race for the England national but are facing competition from Manchester City and Chelsea; each making positive moves for the former Southampton player.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has taken a keen interest in bringing Chamberlain to Anfield after failing to do so in the last summer window.

A bid worth £25 million by Liverpool has already been rejected by Arsenal as they intend to keep hold of their player.

At the same time, the Gunners are planning to reward Chamberlain with a new contract, which will see him earn £100k –a-week as his current contract is set to expire in 12 months.

Oxlade-Chamberlain prefers to stay at Arsenal but is frustrated with the lack of first-team football exposures, and wants to be assured of his involvement ahead of the new season

Considering Liverpool’s already potent attack force, Jurgen might not be able to fulfill Oxlade-Chamberlain’s demand for first team football unless we see a big name leave the Merseyside.
