Liverpool’s search for a left-back continues after the club made an enquiry for Napoli’s Faouzi Ghoulam. According to the Daily Mail, the enquiry came after the Reds rejected a Napoli bid worth £11 million for out of favour defender Alberto Moreno.
Ghoulam is a France-born Algerian international, and has featured at the highest levels for both club and country. He has been linked to Liverpool previously, and it appears thatinterest has been reignited in the marauding fullback following discussions between the two clubs regarding Moreno.
Liverpool’s need for a left-back is no secret, with the club having previously made an enquiry for talented A.S Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy. It is a department that Klopp is desperate to reinforce, having been forced to play James Milner in that position at times as a make-shift fullback.
Napoli has a history of playing hard-ball with its transfers, and only sells when they feel the price is right. Any sale of Ghoulam will likely be accompanied with a sizeable price tag.
Liverpool, however, have already shown their intent this summer, recently completing the signing of Mohamed Salah in a club record £35 million deal that could rise to £39 million with add-ons.
