Celtic have approached Serbian powerhouse Red Star, inquiring about the pacey winger Srdjan Plavsic.

”Atom Ant”, as the Serbian press calls Plavsic, is nearing a move to Parkhead, according to the Daily Mail. The same source stated that Lee Congerton, Head of Recruitment for Celtic, has already traveled to Poland to speak with the player.

Speculated compensation to the Red Star for the potential transfer is around £1.5 million.

Plavsic is a member of U21 Serbian National team which is currently participating at the European Championship.

The 21-year-old has a tremendous speed and can contribute on both sides on the pitch. That is the main reason why Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers wants this young player on his team. If Patrick Roberts indeed stays at Etihad, the ”Atom Ant” will be a perfect replacement.

Plavsic joined the former European and World champions, Red Star Belgrade, at the beginning of the last year and instantly became one of the best players on the field. He scored 8 goals and made and had 5 assists, attracting The Hoops scouts in the process.
