Jack Colback could be out of the starting lineup at Newcastle United this summer, and Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce could offer him a place at his team, reports HITC.
Aston Villa are in need of reinforcements in the middle of the park, and they were linked with a potential transfer of Stoke City’s Glenn Whelan recently. However, it seems that their offer was rejected by Stoke, and Bruce is now forced to look for alternative solutions.
If the arrival of Lucas Leiva to the Tyneside does happen over the summer, Colback will probably fall out of the first team. That is why Aston Villa could be an ideal location for the 27-year-old midfielder.
Even though his contract with the Magpies expires in 2019, Colback could be involved in a transfer worth approximately £5.2 million. Of course, this is a much larger sum than the one Villa would have to pay for Whelan, but Colback is significantly younger and more mobile player.
