Newcastle United reportedly offered £12million in a bid to sign French international

Newcastle United are reportedly set to make a bid of £12 million for Manchester City outcast Eliaquim Mangala.

The French international Mangala, for whom City paid £42 million to lure from Porto in 2014, is set to depart the Etihad Stadium this summer after becoming surplus t requirements.

Top of his list of targets is a new experienced central defender and Mangala fits that role perfectly.

The 26-year-old Mangala spent this season on loan with Spanish club Valencia and played regularly making 33 appearances in all competitions and scoring two goals in the process.

Should the Magpies sign Mangala, it will be a very good coup for the side. The defender is reportedly determined to make the France squad for the 2018 World Cup and regular appearances in the Premier League would help to boost his chances.
