Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is reportedly eyeing the signature of Manchester City outcast Eliaquim Mangala.
After becoming surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium, City are reportedly looking to offload Mangala this summer to free up space for new squad additions.
Pep Guardiola has made it clear that Mangala is not part of his future plans and the Spanish manager is eyeing a swoop for Leonardo Bonucci and Virgil Van Dijk.
Magpies manager Benitez is attempting to re-establish his club as a force within English football and to do that, he will need to make quality additions to his club.
Should the Tyneside club attempt to buy Mangala, they will likely have to pay a fraction of the £42 million that City paid to recruit him in 2014.
Mangala proved to be a failure at City after establishing himself as a promising star with Porto. However he may be handed another chance to prove his credibility in the Premier League by Newcastle.
