West Ham and Newcastle United target Michy Batshuayi has indicated that he is open to going out on loan this season. The 23-year-old Batshuayi said, “I’m a player and I’ll go wherever Chelsea sends me.”
During his first season in England, the Belgium international failed to settle into life, starting just one league game and scoring nine goals in all competitions.
With Romelu Lukaku expected to arrive at Chelsea this summer, Batshuayi’s game time is unlikely to improve next season.
A loan move to a Premier League team may be best for his development. Batshuayi proved that he was capable of becoming a world class striker while with French outfit Marseille.
In order to rediscover the form that he displayed at the French club, he will need regular game time, which is exactly what he will receive should he be sent out on loan. Should he continue to be used inconsistently by Chelsea next season as well though, his confidence may be further dented.
