This Monday, May 22, 2017 (1:00 AM Pacific) Ecuador will play the United States in the U20 World Cup at the Incheon Sports Complex in South Korea. Both teams comprise part of Group F in the competition and will look for their first three points of the tournament.
Ecuador will be participating in its third U20 World Cup and will be looking to get past the round of 16 for the first time in its history. The South American side participated in the 2001 and 2011 editions of the tournament and was eliminated in the round of 16 both times. Ecuador is made up mostly of players who play domestically but does have three players who militate on European clubs. This includes Bryan Cabezas of Atalanta in Italy, Jordan Sierra of Dutch club, Ajax and Josimar Quintero of Chelsea in England. Ecuador is known for producing quick, skillful forwards and should be able to give a great match to the Americans in this game.
The United States have risen in the last few years in terms of producing young talent and will look to be an important team in this competition. The Americans will be playing in their 15th U20 World Cup and will be looking to reach the semifinals for the first time.
The US does carry several MLS Players as well as collegiate players on its rosters. Some of the more intriguing names play in England like Cameron Carter-Vickers of Tottenham and Gedion Zelalem of Arsenal. The United States are the favorites but should have an interesting match against Ecuador.
