Graeme Souness believes that Harry Kane’s injury setback could hamper Tottenham’s chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League this season.
Kane suffered an ankle injury during Tottenham’s 6-0 rout of Millwall earlier this month, which has ruled him out of action for the next few weeks.
Souness has now stated his belief that the absence of the 23-year-old will be a blow to the North London side but maintained that they need to continue their consistency in the Premiership if they want to achieve a top four finish.
“Tottenham must prove they can live without Kane to stay ahead of an inconsistent Liverpool and an improving Manchester United in the race for the top four,” Souness said.
“It’s a question of whether they can get by without him. They just got by against Southampton last weekend and do not have much depth beyond their first XI.”
Kane has been in superb form his season, bagging 24 goals from 29 matches for his club in all competitions.
