Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has been linked with a return to Chelsea after failing to agree terms on a new deal with Everton, however the Premier League Daily panel have claimed that he is best off staying at the Toffees.
Speaking on the panel, former Chelsea assistant manager Ray Wilkins believes that Chelsea will swoop for the Belgian international but also is of the opinion that it may not be the best move for him.
He said, “He wouldn’t play in front of [Diego] Costa. If you look at Antonio Conte, when he was at Juventus he had [Fernando] Llorente, so he likes a big striker, he likes a couple of small ones but he likes a big one.”
Lukaku has bagged 20 goals this season and has been vital to the Toffees’ good performances under Ronald Koeman.
Though Lukaku’s agent claimed that a new contract with Everton was 99.9% done as early as December last year, it now appears that he has turned down an improved contract with the club.
