Report: Celtic in talks over £4.2million transfer of midfielder

The agent of Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton has claimed that his client was a subject of a €5M bid from La Liga club Espanyol last summer.

The 25-year-old has failed to convince with his performances this season. He has been inconsistent with his performances and has failed to hold a spot in Brendan Rodgers’ eleven. He has managed 18 league appearances this season, but only ten of those have come in the form of starts.

In the recent months, even the club’s fanbase seemed to have turned its back on the Israel international.

However, his agent, Dudu Dahan maintains that his client remains very much in demand in the transfer market.

He confirmed that the Hoops received a €5M bid from Espanyol for Bitton last summer. He also confirmed that Championship side Fulham remain very much interested in the midfielder.

Raphael Gellar of BBC posted the quotes on his Twitter account.

The defensive midfielder signed for the Celts from his hometown club FC Ashdod in 2013. He has made more than 90 league appearances for the Scottish club during his time with the club.
