Koeman says 33-year-old could have a key role to play for Everton

Ronald Koeman has opened the possibility of Arouna Kone returning to first team action for Everton according to Click Liverpool. Kone’s tenure at Everton looked to be over after reports emerged that he would move to Crystal Palace.

However after a proposed short term deal with Palace fell through, he has been forced to remain at Goodison Park.

Koeman said, “Arouna’s role is difficult. He is not involved in a lot of games this season and he had some physical issues. But I like the boy because I know him well.

“All the front players are really good in fitness. If we get injuries, then maybe we need Arouna and he needs to wait for his opportunity.”

Considering that Everton are fighting to finish as high as possible in the Premier League this season, it is very unlikely that the Toffees will rest players and thus it is unlikely that Kone will have a role to play unless there is a major injury crisis.
