Real Madrid fringe striker Mariano has apparently turned down the chance to move to Anfield in order to fight for a place in the first team with Los Blancos, according to the Express. Mariano is a 23-year-old Dominican Republic international, and he’s said to want to stick where he is for now.
Liverpool are in need of help, but this would be a bit of a strange move.
They aren’t too averse at taking other academies’ kids though as they have done so with Kevin Stewart (Spurs) and Ovie Ejaria (Arsenal). But this one would be a little different to say the least.
Mariano would not be a 100% sure fire improvement over what they have. And at 23, he wouldn’t have much time to waste in proving himself. He’s scored five goals in limited appearances at his current club, but he’s not likely to be featuring regularly at either club for now. His best move would be to secure a loan or some type of buy back deal to get more playing time!
