Everton have sent goalkeeper Russell Griffiths on loan to SPL side Motherwell, it has been confirmed. The 20-year-old joins the Scottish Premier League outfit until the end of the season. The keeper has yet to feature for the Everton senior team but has spent the past two seasons away on loan.
Griffiths contract is set to expire at the end of this season and he recently returned from a spell with League Two team Cheltenham Town, during which he made 29 appearances.
Motherwell currently lie ninth in the SPL table and Griffiths is set to make his debut when the club take on Rangers on Saturday. The loan of Griffiths comes a day after Motherwell signed winger Elliott Frear from National League side Forest Green Rovers.
Griffiths joins Conor Grant, Gethin Jones, Callum Connolly and Anthony Evans as Everton academy players who are currently on loan. Omar Niasse is on loan at Hull City until the end of the season.
