Report: Villa interested in signing Premier League striker this month

Championship side Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom on a loan deal until the end of the season, according to Birmingham Mail.

Akpom played for Steve Bruce’s Hull City last season in the Championship and contributed with seven goals.

Bruce, who is eyeing a striker-singing in January, is keen on bringing Akpom to Villa.

The young striker has recently recovered from an injury and founds himself way below in the pecking order at Arsenal. He made a positive impression for the Gunners during pre-season but could manage only one League Cup appearance for the Gunners in the first half of the season.

Arsene Wenger is likely to allow Akpom to go on a loan move to a club where he will get more playing opportunities.

Meanwhile, Villa have allegedly put Ross McCormack on the transfer market and have slapped a price tag of £12m on him. The 30-year-old is expected to leave the club this month after falling out with Bruce.
