Apparently, Brendan Rodgers is back at it again. If reports from the Daily Record are to be believed, he’s gone after the signature of yet another young striker in the form of Henry Onyekuru, a 19-year-old that is currently playing in Belgium with K.A.S. Eupen.
Its only his first season at the Jupiler League club, yet he already has an impressive 10 goals to his name. This isn’t even one of the bigger sides in Belgium like Anderlecht or Standard Liege. He’s accomplished this with a small club at a very young age.
Rodgers, now appears to have had a bid rejected for him, according to the Daily Record. Celtic are desperate to complete this, as the Nigerian is reportedly a target of many bigger clubs all across Europe.
The player himself, speaking to AfricanFootball said that “Celtic are interested in me and I believe everything will be sorted out soon.” This suggests that the player believes he’ll be in Glasgow before too long.
If this deal gets done, then people really need to start to take notice. Celtic are well and truly back. Not because of their undefeated Scottish record, but because of the way they are stockpiling youngsters.
Imagine if they can become the club for development in the UK. They can build up their money, then, to the point that they don’t have to sell any longer. That day could be coming very soon if they continue to snap up promising youngsters.
