Chelsea’s attacking target reportedly set to agree new deal

Chelsea’s hopes of landing West Ham’s Michail Antonio have reportedly been dealt a blow as the 26-year-old winger is set to sign a new £70,000 a week deal with the Hammers. The new deal will see his wages doubled, according to the Sun.

Antonio is West Ham’s top scorer this season with eight Premier League goals and has become a key player for West Ham since arriving from Nottingham Forest in September 2015.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has reportedly identified Antonio as a candidate to fill in the role of right wingback in his 3-4-3 formation. Though Victor Moses has been in superb form, Chelsea do not have other options.

Though there have been no confirmed reports of Chelsea approaching West Ham for the player, it is said that the Hammers increased his wages from £35,000 to £70,000 a week as a result of the speculation.

Antonio seems settled at West Ham and it is unlikely that he will be sold during the current transfer window.
