Aston Villa have reached an agreement with Greek side Olympiakos over a loan move for their French defender Aly Cissokho.
Olympiakos have signed the 29-year-old on a loan deal until the end of the season and also have an option to make the deal permanent in the summer, according to Sky Sports. He reportedly arrived in Greece on Sunday ahead of his scheduled medical.
The former France international signed for Villa from Valencia in 2014 and still has 18 months left on his contract.
“I am very happy and proud to be here on behalf of Olympiakos. There are still some typical details to be completed, such as medical tests. Once they are completed, I can celebrate my transfer to Olympiakos,” Cissokho said.
Last season, he was loaned to his former club Porto, but could only manage one appearance for the Portuguese giants. He had started the season as the preferred left-back option under former manager Roberto Di Matteo, but, he has lost his place to Jordan Amavi in the starting eleven under manager Steve Bruce. He has also played for clubs like Porto, Lyon and Liverpool in his career.
