Chelsea face blow in their hopes of bringing defender to Stamford Bridge

Andreas Christensen

Despite Chelsea said to be interested in bringing back Andreas Christensen from a two year loan at Borussia Monchengladbach, the player’s father has warned that he will not return to sit on the bench.

Christensen has impressed at Monchengladbach and with the defender becoming one of the most highly rated defenders after making 56 appearances for the club, the Bundesliga side have made no secret of their desire to sign the 20-year-old on a permanent basis.

Chelsea are said to have no interest in selling and maintain that the defender is part of their long term plans. Christensen’s father Sten is reported as saying, “Chelsea want Andreas back, and they have wanted that for a long time. But it was an interminable two-year loan, so there was nothing to do.

“They have worked to get him back before the time, but Gladbach would not let him. Instead, they would like to buy Andreas. They still really want to, but Chelsea (won’t) get rid of him, and the price (would be) too high.”
