Chelsea reportedly preparing audacious £40 million move for Premier League star

According to the Sun, Premier League leaders Chelsea are set to make a shock £40 million move for West Ham’s Dimitri Payet. Payet shocked the football fraternity by going on strike recently and refusing to play for West Ham in the hoped of forcing a move away, with former club Marseille reportedly interested in re-signing him.

Now the Sun report that Antonio Conte is interested in Payet after losing out on the signing of Arturo Vidal from Bayern Munich.

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic confirmed last week that Payet was refusing to don a West Ham jersey again after the club rejected a £20 million bid from Marseille. However he added that the club were in no hurry to sell after the French star accepted a £125,000-per-deal lasting till 2021 last year.

Payet has been banished by Bilic from participating in training with the West Ham squad and is said to face a fine of £220,000 for every fortnight he refuses to play.
