Club Necaxa will face Club Leon at the Estadio Victoria this Saturday, January 14, 2017 (7:00 PM Pacific) for a Week 2 match of the Liga MX Clausura 2017. The match between these two dark horses should be an intense one as both sides are looking for their first victory in the season. Both teams are contenders to make the playoffs therefore a win on Saturday will be a good parameter to guide them during the young season.
The ‘Rayos’ stumbled in a hard-fought loss to Cruz Azul in the first week of the Liga MX while on the road. The team from Aguascalientes was undefeated at home during the Apertura 2016 season and against Leon they will look to begin the Clausura 2017 in the same manner. In from they face a very difficult Leon who will be a tough visitor especially considering coach Alfonso Sosa will not have his star Edson Puch available after a Week 1 injury.
Club Leon is also coming off a tough loss in the first week of the Clausura 2017. The ‘fiera’ fell at home by a score of 4-2 against Club Pachuca where a controversial penalty call arguably made a big difference in the game. Leon will also be without Argentine defender Diego Novaretti for at least six weeks after an incident with Pachuca’s Hirving Lozano. The team coached by Javier Torrente could be in for a tough game against Necaxa who was undefeated last season at the Estadio Victoria.
