As reported by English newspaper the Sun, Manchester United are currently planning to make a swoop for Red Bull Salzburg defender Dayot Upamecano.
Manchester United have widely been linked with a move for Victor Lindelof this month but it has recently been claimed that the Red Devils will not be signing the Swedish international due to Phil Jones’ stunning return to form.
Nonetheless, a new defender is expected to arrive at Old Trafford before the January transfer window slams shut and it can now be revealed by the Sun that the Premier League giants are currently eyeing up a swoop for Red Bull Salzburg defender Dayot Upamecano.
Upamecano is a very talented young defender who has been creating waves for Salzburg and the 18-year-old is currently wanted by a host of clubs across Europe.
Reports have claimed that Upamecano is being strongly courted by Bundesliga title contenders Red Bull Leipzig but now even United have joined in the race for the £6.95 million-rated defender and it will be interesting to see where he will end up before the conclusion of the window.
