Manchester United are keen to sign Feyenoord right-back Rick Karsdorp, according to Italian news website Calciomercato.
United have reportedly been impressed by Karsdorp’s performances for the Rotterdam outfit this season, but Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Arsenal and Monaco are also believed to be interested in securing the right-back’s services.
The 21-year-old, whose current contract with the Eredivisie title hopefuls expires in 2020, has been in great form for his club this season, which has also earned him a place in the Netherlands national team squad.
Karsdorp has already played 20 games in all competitions for Feyenoord this term, scoring 1 goal and providing 3 assists.
Manchester United’s reported interest in the talented defender is not surprising, as Karsdorp has already played against the English giants twice this season.
Karsdorp had a great game in his team’s 1-0 Europa League win over United at home on September 15th. He showed defensive composure, good passing ability and was very active in his team’s attacks on the ring wing.
He’s definitely one of the most promising full-backs in European football right now and it seems like it’s only a matter of time before he leaves the Netherlands for one of the biggest leagues in the world.
Antonio Valencia has been great for United this season, but Mourinho could probably do with some cover at right-back.
Strengthening the full-back positions is not believed to be Mourinho’s priority for the January transfer window, but Karsdorp could find himself at Old Trafford as early as next summer.
