Barcelona’s Possible Lineup vs Borussia Monchengladbach: Iniesta, Cillessen and Alcácer to start

Barcelona’s poor run of form continued after they could manage only a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid in the El Clasico during the weekend and the result means that Luis Enrique’s men remain six points off of the top of the La Liga table.

The Spanish champions now prepare to square off against Borussia Monchengladbach at the Nou Camp in the final game of the Champions League group stages and although the Catalans are already certain to qualify into the knockout rounds as winners, they will surely be keen on claiming victory from the encounter.

Here is the strongest possible Barcelona lineup for the clash against Borussia Monchengladbach –

Goalkeeper

Jasper Cillessen has had to patiently bide his time for regular first team opportunities and there is now a strong possibility that the Dutch international will finally get his chance on Tuesday night against Borussia Monchengladbach.

Cillessen has not been too impressive since his arrival to the Nou Camp and one can be sure that the custodian will be looking to make an impact in midweek.

Defence

Gerard Pique is struggling with a slight injury and will not be risked on the night. As a boost though, Samuel Umtiti has returned to full fitness and he is expected to start alongside Javier Mascherano at the heart of the Barcelona defence.

In the full back positions, Sergi Roberto is expected to continue but Lucas Digne is likely to come in for Jordi Alba at left-back. Aleix Vidal will also be hopeful of starting during the encounter.

Midfield

Ivan Rakitic is suspended for the clash which means that Andres Iniesta could well get his first start since returning from injury. Iniesta put in a wonderful cameo during the El Clasico and the match will surely be important in getting him up to speed in terms of match fitness.

Andre Gomes look set to partner Iniesta at the middle of the park while Denis Suarez should replace Sergio Busquets, who is expected to be rested on the night.

Attack

Neymar is unavailable due to suspension which means that Arda Turan is likely to be handed the opportunity to start. While Lionel Messi will retain his place, Luis Suarez may well be rested which will pave the way for struggling Paco Alcacer to lead the line.
