Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi could be set for a shock return to Marseille in the January transfer window, according to French newspaper Le10 Sport.
The report claims Batshuayi loves Marseille and could decide to return to the club on loan in January if his situation at Chelsea doesn’t change by the end of the year.
The newspaper goes on to suggest Marseille can afford Batshuayi’s wages following Frank McCourt’s takeover.
The United States businessman is believed to be keen to turn the club into a title contender and is ready to back the manager with a significant transfer budget.
Bringing Batshuayi back to the club on an initial loan deal could be the start of McCourt’s revolution at Marseille.
The 23-year-old Belgium international striker is second choice at Stamford Bridge behind Diego Costa and has mostly been used as a late substitute since his move from Marseille this summer.
He’s made 7 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea so far, but is yet to start in the Premier League.

Batshuayi arrived at Chelsea as one of the most promising strikers in European football and is reportedly frustrated with his limited game-time so far.
He spent two seasons at Marseille after leaving Standard Liege in 2014, but could now return to the Stade Velodrome on loan.
It’d be interesting to see whether Conte would be willing to let Batshuayi leave only 6 months after joining the Blues, but the striker’s return to France could become very realistic if he fails to cement a starting place by the end of the year.
