Arsenal are currently eyeing up a swoop for Toulouse goalkeeper Alban Lafont, according to reports from L’Equipe (via the Express)
In somewhat uncharacteristic fashion, Arsene Wenger splashed close to £100 million to strengthen his squad during the summer and the huge outlay shows that the Frenchman is keen on guiding the Gunners to their first Premier League title in more than a decade this season.
Despite the summer splurge though, Wenger is a manager who always sticks to his philosophy of identifying promising young talent and it has now been claimed that the latest wonderkid the Arsenal boss has discovered is Alban Lafont.
Lafont is currently plying his trade for Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse and the 17-year-old has already managed to establish himself as the number one choice between the sticks for Les Pitchouns since making his debut for the club back in November last year.
Lafont’s exploits has caught the attention of Wenger and according to reports from L’Equipe, it has been stated that Arsenal are currently weighing up a move for the teenage sensation.
The report states that Wenger has regularly been sending scouts to monitor Lafont for nearly a year now and having received glowing reports, the 66-year-old is keen on landing the services of the goalkeeper in the foreseeable future.
