According to the Daily Mail 29 year old Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann has become a transfer target of Arsene Wenger and Arsenal.
Arsenal are searching for center back help after losing Per Mertesacker to a knee injury, and Dann’s name has come up as one of the potential options.
Dann averaged 1.0 tackles per game last season, 1.8 interceptions per game, 5.1 clearances per game, and 1.3 blocks per game.
He was not particularly good at making tackles last season, but he did finish second in the league in blocks per game.
Dann is a solid defender, but nothing spectacular. He would fill a need for Arsenal until younger options like Rob Holding or Joe Bielik are ready to start with the first team every week.
Scott Dann is probably not Arsenal’s first choice center back target, as they are also reportedly pursuing Shkodran Mustafi, but he would be a good backup option if they are unable to get a more proven defender to replace Mertesacker.
