Chelsea’s 22-year-old defender Baba Rahman has been sent on a loan to Schalke. The defender, who was largely a replacement for Azpilicueta, having made 23 appearances for Chelsea last term, is keen on getting more playing time and learn more from the first team football he will surely get in Germany.
This loan deal might well open the gates for a new defender signing for Chelsea, as now they need someone to back-up Azpilicueta. As the transfer window enters the final month, Conte will be on his heels to sign a defender or two.
Chelsea’s potential signings have all made up their mind to stay at their clubs at the moment. Bonucci and Chellini have made it clear to stay at Juventus and Koulibaly is still uncertain over his future with Napoli.
It will be beneficial for Chelsea if Rahman gets a lot more experience of first team football and he could possibly take Terry’s place in the team next year.
