Serie A champions Juventus have reportedly emerged as shock pursuers of Liverpool striker Christian Benteke. Liverpool are adamant that they will not sell the striker for less than £19 million, as per HITC (via Gazzetta Dello Sport).
Christian Benteke was one of the last signings that were made at Liverpool by former manager Brendan Rodgers.
After having a good season at Aston Villa, Liverpool captured Benteke for £32.5 million.
Although he was the 2nd top scorer for Liverpool with 9 goals in the league, game time was limited for Benteke, which indicates the lack of faith Jurgen Klopp has in the Belgian.
Also, with the emergence of Divock Origi and the return of Daniel Sturridge from injury, Benteke was relegated to the Liverpool bench at the end of last season.
Benteke’s style of play didn’t help him, as he proves to be exactly opposite from the high pressing brand that Jurgen Klopp is advocating at Liverpool.
On the other side, Juventus are poised to lose Alvaro Morata to Real Madrid this summer. The Spanish club is considering to bring the Spaniard back to Madrid after his decent form for Juventus last term.
As a result, the Italian Champions are considering to offer Christian Benteke a way out from Liverpool. However, it remains to be seen whether they could match his valuation set by Liverpool.
