Arsene Wenger gives update on Jamie Vardy transfer

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he expects Jamie Vardy to snub Arsenal in favor of staying at Leicester, as per Sky Sports.

This forthcoming attitude of the Frenchman might land him in trouble with the Arsenal fans, who were expecting to see Vardy in Arsenal colors next season.

Arsenal triggered the £20m release clause in Vardy’s contract with an offer last month. Early on, many expected that Vardy would bid farewell to his Leicester team mates to join Arsenal.

Still, after the arrival of Euro 2016, Roy Hodgson told all his player to put their club futures on hold until after the competition.

As a result, the Vardy to Arsenal saga seemed to drag on for at least one more month. However, in an interview given to a Chinese television, Arsene Wenger has clearly stated that he expects Vardy to stay at Leicester.

“Jamie Vardy is, at the moment, at Leicester and from what I know, he will stay at Leicester.”

Arsenal already have the likes of Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck in their striking department.

But with the latter facing 6 months on the sidelines due to an injury, Arsene Wenger has no choice but to go after another striker in this transfer window.
