Ahead of Sunday’s visit to Premier League newcomers Bournemouth, Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp has been handed a brutal injury list. The Reds will be without two of their key first team players going into this fixture on Sunday afternoon.
Of the two key players that have been ruled out of this fixture, it is the absence of Emre Can that might be the biggest blow for Liverpool in their pursuit of Europa League glory. The German was instrumental against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday before being forced to leave the pitch with 10 minutes still left to play.
As it has been reported in the past 24 hours, the foot injury that was acquired by the German might rule him out for the rest of the season. Also, the 23-year-old is facing a battle against time if he wants to be in the German squad that will play in the EURO Championships in the summer.
Apart from Can, whose absence might plague the Liverpool midfield, it is the absence of yet another midfielder in Jordan Henderson that has infuriated the Liverpool faithful. However, the absence of Henderson might not be as big a problem for Klopp, as the likes of Lucas Leiva and Joe Allen are both fit to feature in his starting XI on Sunday.
The Reds will travel to Bournemouth with a hope of reducing the 9-point gap from the much coveted 4th spot. Although they are ranked 9th in the table, Liverpool have played one game less than their opponents.
Thus, going into the business end of the season, a resurgent Liverpool side might launch a belated bid for the Champions League spot.
