Matt Miazga delighted fans in his Chelsea debut last week, where The Blues earned a 4-0 victory over Aston Villa. However, fans turned against him after this Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Swansea City.
Miazga remained in the Starting XI vs Swansea, both due to his good performance last week, and the several injuries ravaging the Chelsea squad. It turned out quite poorly for the American international.
Miazga’s performance was so poor, that Guus Hiddink had no option but to remove him at half-time. Miazga was at fault for Gylfi Sigurðsson’s goal, and committed several other mistakes that could have cost Chelsea even more goals.
Shocking as the performance might have been, the 20 year old has plenty of time to improve, though it appears he might not be quite ready for Premier League level play. Chelsea fans on twitter were quite angry, and definitely shared their rather harsh opinions of the American.
Not surprised that Miazga got pulled at halftime. He had a pretty dreadful first half #SWACHE

Wonder if that’s the last time we’ll ever see Miazga in a Chelsea shirt

Matt Miazga just got subbed off at halftime for Chelsea. Sadly it was deserved. He was pretty awful and was on a yellow card #USMNT

Listen, I love Miazga as much as the next American but he’s had a bad half.
