Chelsea hasn’t lost a league game since their defeat to Leicester in December, which turned out to be the last game of Jose Mourinho. Hiddink has credited his players for showing the fighting mentality since he took over, despite a miserable season.
Hiddink said in his post-match conference that he knew his job is only to carry the team until the end of the season, to which he added “…they(players) have shown good spirit and good mentality.”
Hiddink casts his mind back to the time when he was appointed as the caretaker for the first time at Stamford Bridge in 2009. In his words, he found it beautiful how the big stars like Lampard, Ballack, Drogba, Cech, Terry, Anelka were all down to earth, which made it easier for him to work.
Hiddink has given Chelsea supporters something to cheer for this season. The team has shown integrity and remarkable improvement since their last Premier League defeat. The Dutchman has thanked players for showing belief in him and for the progress which they have made under him.
