Chelsea crushed Aston Villa in a 4-0 rout, where the highlight was Alexandre Pato’s Chelsea debut goal.
Pato scored via the penalty spot late in the first half, making it 2-0 for Chelsea going into the half. Loftus-Cheek had opened the scoring in the 26th minute, while Pedro had a brace with scores in the 46th and 58th minutes.
It could not have been a better debut for Pato, a crushing victory for his team, a goal, and a boost of confidence from his manager, Guus Hiddink. After the match, Hiddink said the following about the player’s fantastic debut:
Guus says the players saw Pato suffering with his fitness when he arrived, and were happy for him to get his goal today. #CFC

With the victory, Chelsea move up to 44 points, inching closer to one of the European spots. Although a top four finish is extremely unlikely, a strong close of the season by Hiddink’s men could see Chelsea in the Europa League spots, which could be considered a decent result for a Chelsea team that failed under Mourinho early in the season.
