Arsenal ready to sign controversial 23-year old defender

Arsenal are ready to make a swoop for under fire Paris Saint-Germain defender Serge Aurier, according to reports from Fichajes

Arsenal suffered a disappointing 2-0 home loss in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 on Tuesday night at the hands of Barcelona and the defeat means that the Gunners are now almost all but certain to exit from Europe’s elite club competition this season.

As a potential blessing in disguise, Arsenal can refocus their attention to the Premier League but with things so tight in the table at the moment, the North London giants claiming the English crown this season is anything but certain.

If Arsenal fail to win the Premier League once again, it is expected that the giants will be very busy in the summer transfer window to strengthen their squad and a host of players have already started being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the past few weeks.

Now according to reports from Spanish publication Fichajes, it has been claimed that Arsenal are considering a move for Paris Saint Germain defender Serge Aurier.

Aurier is considered as one of the most promising full back currently plying his trade in Europe but his future in Paris is in doubt after the defender was caught on video aiming homophobic slurs at manager Laurent Blanc as well as abusing teammates Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Salvatore Sirigu and Gregory van der Wiel.

Many believe that there is no way back for Aurier at PSG and a transfer away from the Parc des Princes seems the most likely possibility.

It has now been claimed that Arsenal are looking to take advantage of the situation and are now ready to place a £11.8million bid in an attempt to sign the controversial Ivorian international at the end of the current campaign.
