According to Squawka, via the Daily Mail and Tutto Mercato Web, Arsenal has registered an interest in Juventus center back Daniele Rugani.
Arsenal are reportedly prepared to make a £25 million bid for the Italy Under-21 player in the hopes of bringing him to North London.
Rugani has only one season of Serie A action under his belt after previously helping Empoli earn promotion from Serie B in the 2013/2014 season. His one-year of experience in Serie A came with Empoli last season, where he played every minute of the campaign.
Juventus only recently purchased the remaining half of the 21 year-olds defender’s rights in February. Although Juventus now own the player entirely, Rugani has yet to make an appearance for the club this in Serie A. His only appearance for the club came in a five-minute stint in the Champions League in a 2-0 win against Sevilla in September.
According to Squawka, via the Daily Star, Arsenal will have to compete with Manchester United for the youngster’s signature. Louis Van Gaal is also interested in bringing the youngster to Manchester in an attempt to bolster his defensive options.
This would be a surprising transfer if it were completed. Rugani is a young player who Juventus think highly of. The only way Rugani would be allowed to leave is if he forced his way out of the club in search of first team opportunities.
Even in that case, it is unlikely that either Arsenal or Manchester United would be his destination considering he would have to compete against well-established center backs at both clubs.
