It might be the end of the line for Fábio Contrão at Real Madrid as some recent media reports claim that Los Merengues are considering making a bid for Wolfsburg’s defender Ricardo Rodriguez.
According to Marca, the Switzerland international is at the top of a short list of possible replacements for Fábio Coentrão, where one can also find several other quality players such as Alex Sandro, Jose Gaya, David Alaba and Rahman Baba.
The Portuguese left back is not going through a very positive moment of his career as he has suffered plenty of injuries recently and, at the age of 27, it is probably time for him to try his luck elsewhere. An hypothetical return to his former club, SL Benfica, might be on the table, but so far, there haven’t been any more developments on this particular topic.
Ricardo Rodriguez, on the other hand, has been having a fantastic time with Wolfsburg and he is considered one of the most impressive defenders of Bundesliga at the moment.
The Swiss left back is currently on a long term contract with Die Wölfe and Real Madrid would most certainly be forced to spend a considerable amount of money to convince the German side to sell the player.
Nevertheless, the friendly relationship between Florentino Perez and Wolfsburg’s CEO, Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, could be a positive thing for Real Madrid’s intents.
