Manchester United legend looking to lure young STAR away from Old Trafford

Although there were certainly not too many positives for Manchester United to look back upon from last season, the emergence of wonderkid Adnan Januzaj provided a silver lining for the Red Devils.

The young man was not fazed by being thrown into the deep end in a time when United were struggling and in fact was arguably the best player for the fallen giants of English football last season – which was quite an achievement for someone so young.

As a result, Januzaj was expected to take himself to the next level during the current campaign and many were excited at the prospect of the 19-year old blossoming under the tutelage of Louis van Gaal.

Januzaj was one of the few bright spots for United last season

However, it has not exactly panned out in such a fashion as the big money arrival of Angel Di Maria has limited Januzaj’s involvement in the first team so far.

Januzaj has done no favours for himself as well after putting in a couple of poor performances whenever he has been given a chance to start, with his insipid displays against Milton Keynes Dons and West Bromwich Albion springing to mind.

Due to the fact that Manchester United are currently struggling at the moment, van Gaal has been averse to putting faith in Januzaj and it had been suggested that the winger would be sent out on loan in order to provide him regular minutes on the pitch.

Januzaj has had first team football hard to come by this season

Reports had claimed that Januzaj would be joining a Premier League side but now it has emerged that Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam have put themselves in contention to make a move to the 19-year old and United legend Edwin van der Sar is said to be looking to play a big role in facilitating the young man’s arrival to the Amsterdam Arena.

Van der Sar is currently the commercial director of Ajax and although he does not play a direct role in the club’s transfer activities, the Dutchman had hinted that he is hoping to tempt Januzaj to the Dutch capital in an interview with Belgian newspaper HLN.

Van der Sar looking lure Januzaj to Ajax

Van der Sar said, “Well, if you have the number of his (Januzaj) agent: give it me with confidence. But I fear that we can’t pay his salary.”

While van der Sar may just have been making a tongue-in-cheek remark but Januzaj making a move to Ajax would not be the worst move in the world as the Dutch side are experts at developing young talent and a move to the Amsterdam Arena will hand the United youngster much needed game time on the pitch.

What Do You Think? Should United allow Januzaj to join Ajax or should he stay put at Old Trafford?
