Despite publicly stating his absolute belief in the attackers that are currently under his command, Jose Mourinho decided to mix his cards up a bit. Loic Remy, who almost got transferred to Liverpool a few weeks ago, has become a new player of Chelsea!
Loic Remy was on medical with Liverpool, and the Reds stopped the negotiations, after the alleged heart issues he had, which were apparently uncovered. Remy returned to QPR, played two games for them, and it seemed that he would stay there until further notice. However, this week Chelsea showed their interest in him, and everything had happened surprisingly quickly – they triggered Remy’s release clause and paid 10,5 million pounds to QPR to get him.
Remy was very happy upon completing this transfer, understandably so. He passed his medical examination with flying colors, so it remains unknown exactly why Liverpool withdrew from further negotiations. Remy signed a four-year contract with the Blues.
At the same time, Mourinho‘s well of never-ending patience for Fernando Torres, who clearly didn’t pay off to Chelsea after his transfer from Liverpool, has apparently run dry. So, the Blues sent him to Milan, who got him on a two year loan, which is a very interesting deal. Milan will pay the wages for the Spaniard, meaning Chelsea relieved themselves of that heavy burden, and the Blues will compete this season with a more suitable attack for Mourinho’s needs.
Loic Remy is very quick, with a nice technique and he converts most of the chances he gets – an attacker everyone would love to add to their team. He will be a fine addition to the squad, and maybe Mourinho will team him up with Diego Costa, and play with two strikers. Drogba is an option from the bench, and a replacement for the high flying Spaniard who started his career in Chelsea brilliantly.
With this transfer, Chelsea probably finished their shopping in this transfer window. They are the current leaders of the Premier League, and they seem very well covered in all positions. Remy’s arrival will add another option for their attack, and make them even a tougher opponent for their domestic rivals.
