Tottenham reportedly renew interest in Portuguese international

According to the Daily Express, Tottenham Hotspur could try to sign Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes in January.

The London club had expressed the desire to bring Portuguese star last summer, but the player decided to stay at Camp Nou and fight for his place in starting line-up.

After another disappointing season in Catalan club though, Andre Gomes could now finally be on his way out.

He arrived at the ranks of Spanish giants from Valencia in 2016 for a fee of €55 million, but he failed to make an impact.

The 24-year-old midfielder struggled to find the space next to Ivan Rakitic, Paulinho, and Andres Iniesta, and a January transfer is very possible.

Barcelona would like to reimburse part of the money invested because his price has dropped drastically.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is looking to add some depth to the midfield area, as Vincent Wanyama and Moussa Dembele are struggling to find the right form this season, leaving Eric Dier as only reliable central-midfielder and as a result, Gomes would be a timely signing.

However, Spurs will have to beat Manchester United in the race for his signature, as Jose Mourinho is a long-time admirer of the former Benfica player.
