Everton have been put on alert after West Ham are allowing defender James Collins to come off contract.
The veteran defender will be allowed to speak to other clubs during the January transfer window and the Hammers have yet to start talks over a new contract.
However, Collins who has spent ten years of his career with West Ham is also open to staying at the club.
His situation has not a number of Championship and Premier League clubs on alert. Everton were known to have looked at the 34-year old during the last transfer window.
Collins quit international football this year after Wales failed to secure qualification to the 2018 World Cup and this prolong his club career for a few years.
While he is perhaps past peak, he has proven through his performances this season for the Hammers that he is still capable of performing at the highest level.
