Tottenham handed huge injury boost ahead of festive period

Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama is reportedly nearing a first team return and has made a return to training.

The 26-year-old has been out of action since August after he suffered a knee injury while in training.

The last game that he played was when his side lost 2-1 in the Premier League against Chelsea.

However it now looks like a first team return is not far away as he took part in training drills on Monday.

Meanwhile Spurs are already 18 points adrift of League leaders Manchester City and lie in sixth position on the League standings. At this stage, the best that they can hope for is a top four finish.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men will need to aim to defeat Brighton convincingly on Wednesday night especially considering that they face off against Manchester City during the weekend, a game in which they will be the underdogs.
