Tottenham right back Serge Aurier has admitted that joining Spurs was not his preferred option before the season began.
The Ivory Coast international moved to North London from French giants PSG during the summer transfer window.
He has now admitted that he had hoped to remain in the French capital rather than move to England.
Aurier ended up joining Spurs for a fee of £23 million and has been viewed as a replacement for Kyle Walker, who joined Manchester City.
“Of course, I would have liked to stay at PSG. It’s the club of my heart,” Aurier told French news outlet RMC.
“I come from Sevran. I’m from Paris. There’s nothing better than playing for the club you love.”
As he had fallen down the pecking order under Unai Emery though, his chances of first team football this season looked slim and a transfer was possibly the best move for both parties.
