Tottenham have rejected the chance to appeal the red card which defender Davinson Sanchez received against Watford last weekend.
This now means that the Colombia international will miss his clubs games against Stoke, Brighton and Hove Albion and Manchester City.
Sanchez was given his marching orders against the Hornets after putting his arm in the face of Richarlison during the 1 -1 draw at Vicarage Road.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino did not comment on the incident but did say that he would review footage before deciding on whether his club would appeal the decision.
The absence of Sanchez means that Spurs will only have three recognized centre–halves in Eric Dier, Jan Vertonghen and Juan Foyth until their game against Burnley on December 23.
Sanchez will however be able to compete for his side in their Champions League clash against APOEL Nicosia on Wednesday.
Pochettino said of the incident, “I am not going to say anything about the referee’s performance. I am not going to complain. It doesn’t change anything and doesn’t help anyone.”
