Arsenal legend Martin Keown has warned Tottenham that they must reset their priorities for this season and aim to finish second in the League while adding that they must avoid slumping like how they did during the 2015/16 season.

Spurs recorded a frustrating 1-1 draw with West Brom this weekend, which further dents their title hopes for this season.

During the 2015/16 season, Mauricio Pochettino’s men were the main challenges to eventual winners Leicester City for much of the season, however a late season slump saw them eventually end the campaign in third position behind the Foxes and North London rivals Arsenal.

“I think he (Pochettino) is probably right whether he should announce it or not I don’t know if that’s a good a thing for the players,” Keown said, as quoted by BBC Sport.

“They’ve been quite remarkable Man City they’ve almost won the Premier League by Christmas and maybe he feels that is the way.

“You have to adjust, we saw it a couple of seasons ago when it didn’t look like they could be champions that they almost just imploded as a team. You have to reset a new target to finish second because Man City are that good now.”
