Aston Villa flop lands new managerial job

Former Aston Villa boss Remi Garde is the new manager of MLS side Montreal Impact.

Garde has been appointed as the successor to Mauro Biello who was very popular among fans of Impact.

Garde was appointed as manager of Villa during the 2015/16 season after Tim Sherwood was sacked after the club had made a poor start to the Premier League and it was hoped that he would turn the fortunes of the club around given that he enjoyed success while managing Lyon in France.

However he ended up being sacked after 20 years and Villa ended up being relegated to the Championship that season.

His new job is his first since being sacked by Villa. Impact are a relatively new team and made their MLS debut in 2012.

Their highest finish in the Eastern Conference was 3rd in 2015 and they have not yet managed to win the MLS Cup.
