Following Tottenham’s superb victory over Real Madrid during midweek’s Champions League, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was once again linked with the Santiago Bernabeu job again.
France legend and Madrid’s manager Zinedine Zidane is under pressure following some unimpressive results and performances, and with no guarantees over his position should things go south, Pochettino is widely tipped to take over.
Los Blancos’ president Florentino Perez is a huge admirer of the Argentine, and many believe rejecting the biggest managerial job in the world would be hard for Pochettino to turn down.
However, the Spurs chief has pledged his support and future to the north London club, claiming ahead of Sunday’s clash with Crystal Palace: “The most important club in the world is Tottenham. And it is the best club in the world.
“I need to feel like this and that emotion is real because I cannot be fake. It’s too difficult to create the trust if you don’t really believe and it’s not real, that emotion.
“Today, Tottenham is in my head 100 per cent. Today, I do not change Tottenham for another position in the world because I am so involved, so focused.
“The club deserves to have people that think only about the club, the fans, the players and the structures – and they provide us with an unbelievable life. It’s important to recognise that.
“It’s an amazing club and it’s so important for us to pay back the club for the way that they treat us.”
Having extended his deal with Tottenham till 2021, and with the club looking to even have him in the long-term, it seems Pochettino has all his heart set on Spurs and ready to lead them to success.
