Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he was not surprised by the good performance of his club’s third choice goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga during their 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace this weekend.
Despite lacking in first team experience, Gazzaniga had a good game and pulled off three very impressive saves to ensure that Spurs emerged victorious against the Eagles
Gazzaniga was arguably one of the best players on the day for Spurs after they were underwhelming as a unit following their 3-1 victory over Real Madrid last week.
After the game, Pochettino was full of praise for the Argentine Gazzaniga and said: “I think he was fantastic but it’s not a surprise.
“We had him in Southampton and he played with us in the Premier League. When there was the possibility to sign here, there was no doubt about his quality.
“We have three [goalkeepers] plus younger guys with a lot of potential, so we have very good [options to] protect our goal.”
