Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Tottenham defender Davidson Sanchez’s limitations in while in possession of the ball is his biggest weakness.
Since his move to Tottenham from Ajax, Sanchez has acquitted himself well in English football and the 21-year-old has already played a major role in the early season success for Spurs.
Many have been impressed by Sanchez’s performances but former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is still unconvinced by the young defender’s poise on ball and believes that this is something that Tottenham’s rivals can exploit to beat them.
Ferdinand told BT Sports: “Defensively I think he’s very talented. On the ball he’s got a lot to do. I think that’s a weakness in his game. They’ll be working with him on that. So far he’s done what has been asked of him.”
Sanchez will not have to worry about finding ambitious passes at Spurs, especially as the youngster has the luxury of the likes of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen flanking him and both of them are known to be adept passers of the ball.
However, being more efficient in possession and not losing the ball easily might be something worth working for the 21-year-old, who sometime looks unsure as Ferdinand has pointed out.
