Former Tottenham star Jermaine Jenas has said that the only negative from Spurs 3-1 Champions League victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday was the injury that was picked up by Toby Alderweireld.
Speaking after the game, Jenas said: “I suppose the one negative from tonight is the injury to Toby Alderweireld and he’s a big, big loss.”
The Belgian international was forced off the field during the first half of the game after injuring his hamstring and could be out of action for a few weeks.
Alderweireld is currently widely regarded as being one of the best defenders in the Premier League and his absence will be a blow to Spurs.
Spurs are next in action this weekend and take on Crystal Palace in a Premier League clash. The absence of Alderweireld will likely result in Eric Dier moving back into central defence, while Moussa Sissoko or Mousa Dembele will step up in the midfield.
